Thoughts: Father’s Day 2020

The premise of offspring is tantalizing

I sit (equal parts terrified and excited)

pondering the prospect

of one day passing on knowledge

and foolish/childish ideation to them

(equal parts me and equal parts her)

But there’s also all the trauma, hate, vex, pain that’ll be poured into this one

(equal parts mine and equal parts hers)

Is it selfish to hope they never come

To hope this curse ends with me?
