Season 23 of NYFW is coming to a close as our fashion giants have shown us what we’ve been waiting to see all year. From season 22 to this year, we’ve seen a shift in gear from pops of colors to a sexy dystopian punk archetype that brands like Barragan and Jaded have fully embraced and danced in. Now, if we witness loud colors, it is muted, almost professionally, how the designers have chosen to cut fabrics and focus on new asymmetrical structures.
We’ve also seen it not in its contemporary places that used to be underground warehouses in Bushwick, but ready to wear for those ready to work, such as Jane Wade’s SS23 collection. We’ve also seen the return of brands that took a hiatus while the pandemic raged on, Gypsy Sport, and along with protests during multiple NYFW events, not to single out the Coach show. But as with every week, NYFW has come and left us again to wait and speculate and, for some time, to grow and evolve with the new trends and, hopefully, inventions in the next NYFW.
